📚 HOW TO USE EA IN MT4 FOR BACKTESTING
1️⃣ Download & Install EA
- Download the EA file using the button at the bottom of this page
- Extract the downloaded .zip file
- Open your MT4 installation folder (usually:
C:\Program Files\MetaTrader 4)
- Copy the EA file (.ex4 or .mq4) to folder:
MQL4 → Experts
- Restart your MetaTrader 4
💡 Tip: If you don't know the MT4 folder location, right-click on MT4 shortcut → Properties → Open File Location
2️⃣ Open Strategy Tester
- Open MT4, click menu View → Strategy Tester
- Or press keyboard shortcut Ctrl + R
- Strategy Tester window will appear at the bottom of MT4
3️⃣ Backtest Settings
- Expert Advisor: Select "Quantum Synthesis EA" from dropdown
- Symbol: Select XAUUSD (Gold)
- Period: Select M5 (5 Minutes)
- Model: Select "Every tick" for accurate results
- Spread: Use Current or adjust manually (20-30 points)
- Optimization: Leave unchecked for regular backtest
ℹ️ Model Explanation:
- Every tick: Most accurate, but slower
- Control points: Balanced speed and accuracy
- Open prices only: Fastest, less accurate
4️⃣ Select Backtest Period
- Check "Use date"
- From: Select start date (example: 2024.01.01)
- To: Select end date (example: 2024.12.31)
- Recommended: Test minimum 3-6 months for reliable results
💡 Recommendation: Longer backtest periods (6-12 months) provide more reliable performance data
5️⃣ Adjust EA Parameters (Optional)
- Click "Expert properties" button
- Go to "Inputs" tab
- Adjust settings as needed (Lot size, Stop Loss, Take Profit, etc.)
- For initial testing, use default settings
- Click OK to save
6️⃣ Run Backtest
- Click "Start" button (green play icon)
- Wait for the backtest to complete (may take several minutes)
- Progress bar will show completion status
- Don't close MT4 during the backtest process
ℹ️ Note: Backtest duration depends on the selected period and model. "Every tick" model takes longer but provides the most accurate results.
